Biosecurity Summit

Dates

8 – 11 September 2026

Location

Lansdowne Resort, near Washington, DC

Cost

Free (accommodation & meals included)

The inaugural Biosecurity Summit brings together ~150 leaders and professionals working to prevent, detect, and respond to global catastrophic biological risks (GCBRs). Over three days, we'll deepen the field's relationships, develop a shared diagnosis of where the field stands, and leave with concrete commitments to act on.

The biosecurity field is at an inflection point: AI timelines are accelerating, and significant capital is likely about to reach the field. This is an unusually important moment to bring its key people together.

The program is built around 1:1s, supported with workshops led by high-context practitioners and memo discussions, alongside shared meals, on-site accommodation, and time for more serendipitous conversations.

Our goals for the Summit

Build high-trust relationships

We're bringing the GCBR-focused people into one room and creating the conditions for the important conversations to happen.

Collective sense-making

The programming is designed for people to discuss their observations, compare diagnoses, and create shared awareness.

Turn conversation into action

We want attendees to leave with specific next steps: new collaborations, decisions made, and clearer priorities for the months ahead.

The program

Attendance at the Summit is by invitation only. Accommodation and meals will be provided, and we'll cater to all dietary requirements. The Summit will include workshops on key biosecurity interventions by leaders in each sub-field, participant-led memo discussions, and plenty of time for 1-1s. Programming starts at 6pm on Tuesday and runs through Friday lunch, with shuttles back to DC around 12:30pm. Thursday evening is a key part of the Summit, and the program continues into Friday morning. Please plan to be there through Friday lunch.

No strict dress code: dress for your own comfort, dinners included. Early September in Northern Virginia is typically warm during the day (upper 70s–low 80s°F / mid-20s°C) and cooler in the evenings (upper 50s–low 60s°F / ~15°C), with a moderate chance of rain, so it's worth packing a layer for the evenings.
If you're sick before or during the Summit, please take reasonable precautions to protect other attendees: wearing a mask, doing 1:1s outdoors, or staying home if you haven't left yet. If you fall ill during the event, email contact@biosecurity-summit.com and we'll work out the best path forward together.
